PRIME/ENID Summer school on novel ST&I-Indicators will be held in Amsterdam, September 1-4 2009. Extended call for abstracts: May 25st 2009

PhD students and post-docs are invited to submission of abstracts of papers or posters to be presented at the School on topics related to one of four themes:
1 Characterising public interventions in research and higher education;
2 Visualizing knowledge dynamics;
3 Depicting innovation; and
4 Positioning of higher education institutions.

Abstracts should contain the following information:
. Name and affiliation of the author(s).
. Selected theme.
. Research subject and hypothesis.
. Methodology.
. Existing and expected results.
. References.
Abstracts should not exceed 2 pages (6,000 signs).

Submit abstract electronically (Word or PDF format) before 25st of May 2009 to:

r.braam@rathenau.nl

Answer on acceptance of oral or poster presentation will be given to the authors in June 2009.

Papers admitted for oral presentation can be considered for inclusion in the upcoming conference (2010) on S&T Indicators.

Bursaries
Students are expected to pay travelling and lodging costs themselves.
Up to five bursaries covering travelling costs (selected on the base of abstract quality) can be applied for, in particular by students from new EU member countries.

Steunpunt O&O Indicatoren, constructed as an interuniversity consortium, is housed within the Faculty of Economics and Applied Economics at the Catholic University of Leuven. Steunpunt O&O Indicatoren (SOOI) develops a consistent system of R&D and Innovation (RD&I) indicators for the Flemish government. This indicator system is designed to assist the Flemish government in mapping and monitoring the RD&I efforts in the Flemish region. Within this context, Steunpunt O&O is the pre-eminent Flemish site for the study and application of advanced bibliometric techniques in the evaluation of research, and has become a prominent research centre of international visibility.
To support the project, SOOI is currently recruiting

CALL FOR NOMINATIONS!

The scholarship will consist of

an award of
$3,000

(donated by the Eugene Garfield Foundation) to be used for travel or other research related expenses of the grant recipient, contingent upon the recipient's attending the ISSI biennial conference.
The next meeting of ISSI will be held on June 25-27, 2007 in Madrid, Spain.
This announcement is being made to give potential applicants more time to prepare their submissions.

CHANGES IN MEMBERSHIP FEES

Regarding the membership fees, the following resolutions were made by the ISSI Board on its last Board Meeting held in Stockholm on 27 July 2005:

• Individual membership
New dues are € 50 per annum for individuals from developed countries and € 10 per annum for individuals from developing countries. The allowance if the membership fee is paid for at least 3 years at one time amounts to 20%, that is, individuals from developed countries will pay € 120 and those from developing countries will pay € 24 in this case.

• Life membership (for individuals only)
New dues are € 375 for individuals from developed countries and € 100 for individuals from developing countries.

• Corporate membership
Any institution can become corporate member of the Society. The fee will amount to € 250 per annum.

New tariffs came into force on 28 July 2005.
